September 2024
Dear Parents,
This year your child begins their last year of preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Despite all the uncertainties and challenges, our faith in Jesus stands as the unchanging center of everything. It is important to start our year centered on Christ and his promise of the Spirit.
It is important to also remember that your child has come to this stage in his/her spiritual life by growing up in the faith, which starts at home. Starting with their baptism, all the way to this point, they have been growing as Catholic young men and women. In this journey, confirmation continues the promise made by parents at the Baptism of their son or daughter. At Baptism, parents were told to make it their constant care to bring up their child in the practice of faith.
Up until now, the candidate’s home has been the primary Christian experience and environment. Confirmation means that the baptized youngster is now ready to move into the larger Christian family of the parish. It also means that the candidate is ready and willing to take on the responsibilities of a more mature Christian.
As we continue to navigate through these difficulties and uncertainties of life, it is even more important to center ourselves and our families on Jesus and His grace. As individual parents, it is important to be intentional about the faith and constantly encourage your child to build a relationship with Jesus. As a Religious Education program, we will work in discovering the meaning of Christ in our lives. And finally, as a parish community we can grow together to always seek what is most important in our life.
We look forward to working together as a Parish family to discover God’s ever-growing plan for our lives, particularly through working together in the faith of your child as they prepare for confirmation.
Sincerely,
Fr. Eduardo Chincha, SDB
