Dear Religious Education Parents,
This is an update regarding our religious education classes.
As you may have seen, Port Chester is currently in a Yellow Zone for the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of this, the archdiocese of New York has informed us that all in-person religious education classes must be suspended.
We feel as a parish it is vital to continue our faith formation for our young people as they grow in a relationship with Jesus. Because of the importance of the faith in a young person’s life, we will continue our religious education program as an at-home family style catechesis.
For this reason, there will be no in person classes this week. We, as a parish religious education team will spend time preparing the particular plan for the at-home lessons. We will send an update by the end of the week about the specific details for the at-home learning program.
While missing class time is not ideal, it does provide us with a beautiful opportunity to help the Church at home grow. In addition to the lessons the catechist teachers will prepare, we encourage you to find intentional ways to increase prayer opportunities for the entire family together.
As an example of this, we ask you to join together in prayer for an end to the coronavirus pandemic. Saying a rosary together or saying this novena prayer together would build a sense of prayer in a time of need.
Thank you for your understanding during this time,
We pray for your continued health,
Ms. Irma Austin
Coordinator, Religious Education
